Gadgets Games And Cell Phone Review

Maybe it is weird for Indonesian customers, if Sharp act as cell phones vendor. Previously, Sharp ever released some megapixel camera cell phones in local blackmarket, then time after time they were disappear. Today, Sharp officially release their superior product, Sharp Aquos WX-A92. this Aquos product is offering combination between a high technology LCD and cell phone. So, no wonder if it is named Aquos cell phone because Sharp released lot of TV LCD which are also named Aquos.

Design
Similar with most Japanese products, WX-A92 use flip mode design. It is loved by most Asian people because of the luxurious mode. With a slim body and distinct nudge, it is covered by gossy material, the combination between magnesium and plastic.

When the flip is opened, we would find a 3,2 inch display screen. The interesting, the screen has a support switch that could rotate it until 90 degrees to the right. Change the screen direction becomes horizontal like wide screen LCD. They called it cycloid. The widescreen ratio is 16 : 9. this ratio is usually used by most LCD monitors and TVs.

There’s no problem in messaging feature. We could get comfortability in typing message because of the soft keypad and wide screen.

Screen and Interface
Sharp WX-A92 supprisely show the superiority in screen side. The name Aquos becomes a bet here. In this case they recognize a new screen technology called ASV mobile (Advance Super View). Based on the information, this TFT perfecter technology has contrass ratio 2000 : 1. quite large and better that usual TFT screens. Beside that, ASV mobile has a high depth colour more than 24 bits or 16, 7 millions colours. This is equal with computer LCD and our TV LCD. Is it cool isn’t it ? The resolution is WVGA 854 x 480 pixels. This is better than Blackberry Bold 9000 and ASUS products which come with VGA (640 x 480 pixels). The rotating mechanism also could change the interface in significant. The default menus could appear grid in portrait screen and sircular in landscape mode. It is very suitable for us who have a problem with eyes because the fonts size could be changed as we need.

High features

HSDPA and Internet
This cell phone use WCDMA 2100 network and also completed with HSDPA so we could access the internet faster than 3G. there are also alternative networks, EDGE and GPRS. The large screen and the unique interface are positive point for this cell phone. In landscape position, the web page would be appeared the same with a laptop or PC display. We could manage the browser setting until detil. It could also show video streaming with a big resolution up to 320 x 240 pixels. Supported by HSDPA, it doesn’t seems a problem for WX-A92. but the quality is depend on the HSDPA operator network we used. But the minus is WX-A92 didn’t completed with videocall camera.

Multimedia
Almost all multimedia facilities are provided by WX-A92. But the 3.2 megapixel use is not a maximum resolution for a cell phone. Although the digital camera software is quite satisfy, the viewfinder mechanism cause a little problem. It because of unprogressive screen and software with the lens resolution’s change. In other words, when the screen is in landscape position, viewfinder would be effective to frame objects with 854 x 480 pixels or 1536 x 864 pixels resolution. But out from that the viewinder would appear vertical in the landscape position, so it wouldn’t view in fullscreen. In landscape position, the screen has ratio 16 : 9. if we still want to aim with a different resolution, the solution is using the portrait mode. Ok ?

Beside camera, WX-A92 is offering new media interface. We have find it in Sony Ericsson products. With a great screen, it would be more attractive in WX-A92 over playstation 3 or PSP. We could also access music player, video, video streaming, and java game. It’s all could be helped by the well screen perform. But for the output sound from the speaker, it is not quite loud. As solution, Sharp provide a special headset with traditional port. It seems uneffective if it is compared with 3.5 mm in other products. For external memory space, WX-A92 give MicroSD card.

Other features
Some WX-A92 is still dominated by PIM features. The unique thing, there is Picsel document viewer that could be used o open word, excel, power point, etc. but it doesn’t perform maximal because can’t be used for editing directly from the cell phone.

Connectivity
This cell phone come with complete connectivity media. There are data cable, Bluetooth and infrared. A2DP profile has also provided for the music lovers. It would make possible for us to listen audio file via compatible headset.

Battery
The first question is, could 800 mAh battery power restrain for the wastefull enery features in WX-A92 ? the answer is yes, it could. the cell phone could stand until 2 days for once charging. However, the use of HSDPA would waste more energy.

Conclusion
As a new product, Sharp WX-A92 is very promise. Over all, the high screen technology and high features could attract many customers, young and adult. But the problem comes from the price. IDR 6.150.000 is quite expensive for a new “player” in the local market.
