4 XPressMusics comparation

Nokia XPressMusic has become an icon for music cell phones in all segments including for teenagers. These cell phones are definitly more received rather than other Nokia’s multimedia series which have higher price. So, if we only have limited money, which XPressMusic we choose?

At least there are four Nokia XPressMusics that we could got easily from the market. It means, there are still many new stocks in some stores and towns. They are Nokia 5320, Nokia 5130, nokia 5220 and nokia 5310. With almost the same price, sometimes they’re confuse us to choose one of them. Let’s find more from them !!!

Design
There’re no many discussions in this area. But definitely, 5320 and 5130 have almost similar design. Very usual just like many cell phones in general. But if we like to be different, we could look at 5310 which has a slim body and 5220 which has asimetric body design, quite unique and stylish anyway.
About addition button for music control, the four have similar mode. The button placement is in the left side of the screen. There’s nothing special with this placement.

Interface
For interface, there are no many differences among three cell phones 5310, 5220 and 5130. The three use Nokia closed operation system called 40th serie the new edition. 5320 becomes superior because it has open operation system Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1.

The problem is 5320 has higher price than the others, and not all consumers like symbian interface. So, if music quality we’re looking for, then the operation system wouldn’t becomea a problem, right ?

Music player
The interface platform of each cell phone influence the capability and acceleration of the mucic player feature. In other word, 5310, 5220 and 5130 have the same music player software, while 5320 use more superior software based on the operation system. The music player in the 40th serie cellphones have a good files shorting system. The files could be categorized based on the tittle, singer, album, etc. It would ease us to find them and arrange it automaticly in playlist. In this feature, we could find equalizer, stereo widening and music player theme choises. The equalizer could be setting by 5 frequencies. There some preset could be chosen, not only that, there’re also two new equalizer settings that could be edited by ourselves.

Stereo widening technology would wide the frequency range so, it would produce wider voice range. Some people call it surround sound. Although they come with different mode, the effect is the same. In the other word, these cell phones have the same strong software power.

For the quality, Nokia 5130 and 5220 are almost the same. Not in the sound output, but in the features. These cell phones bring 3.5 mm audio port, the most important thing for a music cellpone. 5130 and 5220 also could appear headphone profile when we put on the jack to the port. The sound output could be enjoyed from external speaker although it reduce the power. Both cellphones have LED light in the left side. This lamp would be active following the music rhytm when the music were played. It is called dynamic light and we could find the similar thing in some old Siemens. Both are also read the IDTags well. Tittle, singer, album until the album arts could be showed in PlayNow page. 5220 is more attractive because the album art is positioned in full screen like wallpaper which only left a small area for control menu under. 5310 is not too different. It support headset profile and could produce output sound via external speaker. There’s also album art support, but not as wide as 5220 and there’s no dynamic light.

The unique part, the three 40th serie cell phones have some theme options for the music player appearances. Depend on us !!

5320 have the highest music player technology, but talking about the sound quality, it show almost the same output with other XpressMusics. Some menus like album art, equalizer, stereo widening, files sorting, etc are available, too. Some menus are also given in the audio setting for example balance menu could balance the output sound from right and left speaker and loudness menu to improve the music power were played. Beside that, 5320 also has more complete profile. When we put on the 3.5 mm jack audio to the port, there would be some profile were appeared such headphone, lineout, and music stand. And of course the sound output would be different from headphone profile. This is the reason why the the power output from 5320’s external speaker sound better than the others.

Internal speaker in 5130 has one big funnel covered with special membrane and 3 times amount of holes than other cell phones. So, no wonder if the speaker output more powerfull.

5320 only has 1 funnel in the left side of the cell phone. Although it is quite powerfull but it sound shrill. While 5220 and 5310 have the same quality because they use 2 speaker funnels in the same place. The quality is under 5130 level but they’re still equal with 5320.

The problem now, these cell phones are completed with different quality of headphones. 5310 and 5320 probably almost the same because they have same headphone type. It’s different for other cell phones.

Connectivity

USB with micro USB connector in each cell phone support some profile such pc suite, image transfer, media and data storage. File transfer process could be done easily. Different with iPhone or iPod, we could transfer files directly from computer to any folder, the system would find them and add these files directly to song list.

About internet browsing, 5320 show the best perform because it has supported by 3.6 mbps HSDPA network technology. While the others only use GPRS.
