Nokia success story so far can’t be separated with the market strategy that very dynamic, right to the target, and always down to earth. After success attracting high class market with N and E series, now Nokia try offering entertaint cell phone for middle class by the newest Nokia 5130 XpressMusic. Will it work ?
This is not the first Nokia XpressMucic at the price 1,5 million rupiah. In a few times before we’ve known with Nokia 5220. Although, people estimate that N 5130 will be the cheapest XpressMucic under N5220. But how about the quality ? Let’s we find out.
Design
N 5130’s design is not different from the other XpressMucic family which is familiar with candybar model. it’s not as thin as Nokia 5220 xpressmusic but more similar with Nokia 5320. The real difference is in the material choice. N 5130 prefer to reduce the weigt, sometimes it looks like a toy but this is suitable for the teenagers market, especially for girls.
Some trick are used in the monitor display. There are dot textures effect as long as the metallic lis surround the monitor , this effect is produced by a number LED under it. In the left side, you can see three multimedia icons to represent the multimedia buttons.
The second Trick is on the speaker. To get louder sound, the speakers is bypassed through the small holes which located on the casing, this is coated by such thin membrane, then arranged in such way to create any exciting appearances. Actually this is a great job, but what is the importance of this appearances ? For attracting the customers or what ?
Interface
Different with the XpressMucic products before, 5130 doesn’t use any open operation system. It means that there is no Symbian in this cell phone. The developers platform which is used is 40 Nokia series 5th edition feature pack 1. This is Nokia closed operation system based on MIDP 2 java technology. The display looks so simple, right in stand mode or when you get in the menus icon.
Now let’s chek the screen condition. The screen that is claimed as TFT just more similar with CSTN. The color depth has reached 18 bit (262,144) with QVGA resolution, but it doesn’t seem in maximal perform.
Excellent features
Although 5130 doesn’t use open operation system, it’s still one of Nokia XpressMucic phone. It has provide a number of pre-installed codec that can support multiple music files. Among AAC, AAC +, AMR, eAAC, eAAC +, MP3, MP4 and WMA.
The music player is Multitasking, so it will still playing the music even if we exit the application. We can control it by using the button facility.
For audio quality, we can hear it from the speaker phone. Louder sound that is produced by the speaker make 5130 looks like China mobile phones. It is a little bit tacky, but some people prefer this condition because they could enjoy the music together with friends.
Next, we will try to see the audio quality by using the headset. With 3.5 mm audio jack on the phone, we use two different headsets. First, from the original version, and second from manifacture product that usually being used for review the MP3 player.
The original 5130 headset has good quality, but the second headset is given better audio output. You also can control the audio output via equalizer.
The other Multimedia Features
Beside the multimedia player, 5130 has 2 Megapixel digital camera, without autofocus and flash. The result is not so bad, especially for outside pictures. This camera is also can record standart video. The resolution is small enough with 15 fps frame rate. It’s completed with FM radio and video player with 3gp and MP4 formats. Although it has small internal memory only 30MB, but this is include pre – install application. It’s also has microSD slot as additional memory. The maximum capacity is 2 GB, enough for save some mpeg-4 videos.
Internet and browser
The internet access is provided well by this cell phone. Although it’s only via GPRS and EDGE. For open site service, Nokia provide the best browser called Opera Mini.
Connectivity
To make any connection with the other hardware, 5130 is completed with microUSB software version 2.0 and the newest Bluetooth. You can also hear the music via Bluetooth stereo headset.
Battery
XpressMucic Nokia 5130 is supported by lithium battery with 1020mAh. This big capacity is dedicated mostly for the music player. And if the music player doesn’t often used, the phone can stand until three days of charging.
The Conclusion
With the prices estimate at 1.5 million rupiah, N 5130 comes with the unique approach. Comes with A little tacky design and loud sound from the speaker sometimes interesting for some people. Unfortunately, the minimum network features could be a resistor. But , this is belong to Nokia brand and that can be the reason why you have to buy this.

while searching in another site,i saw d information tht,ths phones memory cn b expandable upto 8 GB.

That is not true!
Memory is expandable to 2Gb only.
I f you do manage to put in a 8Gb memory it may just cause the phone to freeze up intermittently or it may not even work.

Im using this phone and i have 4gb memory card in it without a problem,some ppl say that 8gb is possible too,but i didnt tried that yet.5130 is very nice phone for music and have louder speak than N73. The only problem is that while you listen music,after 2-3 hours phone restart itself,this is known issue with new express music phones,and it will be fixed with next firmware.

I have a problem, those who say they have a 4 gb card and it works, can you help me please?
I bought a 4 gb card after reading on many sites that it works, but my phone keeps restarting. I removed the card and it works so the 4 gb card is the problem. What can i do? I really wanted to work with this card:(

Hi,
I have bought this model yesterday,
Sound is loud and clear equiliser add on is good.
Head phones are not that great.
Pros:
Good music
Loud speaker
Cons:
Next button dosent work properly. say you are playing track1 when you are out of music player and press next button some times it dosent go to the next song.
But over all i am satisfied with the phone worth 6K INR.
I liked the RED color. But i am little disappointed by the review as it says like china mobile. This is much much better than china mobile.

i have this phone and really satisfied and stereo widening really rocks i hear hard rock and metal clear and loud well on speakers stereo widening sometimes slows down sound so that is bad
body is shine and sexy but gets scratches too early
ALL COMBINED THIS PHONE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! with another headphones off course
not checked 4gb or 8 gb yet
warning it can get severe display crisis if u change sim often

I’v been using ths phon for 6months.i wil giv it 8/10. Headphones r nt gr8.so i brought a panasonic headphon for 180rs.loudspeaker s gud.camera s average.outdoor pics r gud.internet s gr8,is fast nd i aces orkut,facebuk,gmail by a click.i download nd play gr8 games nfs,cricket etc.but i’m nt sure whethr 4gb cards work.heard it hv restartng issues whn using 4gb cards.acordng to user manual,its max capacit s 2gb.so go 4it.nd i’m postng ths frm my mobile.i luv it.

I have a more bigger problem with the nokia 5130c-2 xpress music, i suddenly found my phone off, i started it again but it keeps turing in every 3 secs to a white screen n opens again n like tht for 3-5 times then turns off, i start it again n the same thing happens… i worked out very fast to format it with the code *#7780# then 12345, and it worked..
BUT wat after tht it is still n the same condition, i mean bugged, restarting with the white screen didn’t get anything rapired with formating..
i downloaded latest software till today to fix it out but they ask me to keep the phone on for updating it. WHAT THE HELL i can’t put it for 3 seconds on.. i really hate nokia for now.. any help plz send to my mail crime_1001@yahoo.com

With Nokia 2730c model in market at almost the same price who will go with Nokia 5130? I was just planning to buy 5130 on New Year but fortunately I didn’t as I checked nokia.co.in and saw that there are 3 upcoming models. Now I think 2730c is my only bet.

5130 is good. it’s like an all around cellphone and costs fairly good. it can expand upto 2gb but , you can use upto 8gb, i use 8gb in my 5130 but then again i bought mine like yesterday and it has a new color, aqua blue thing, blue and white :]

this phone’s real shit…i advise not 2 buy it…my 5130 gets stuck during music playback….nd only a white screen appears….nothing happens then…..also…some ppl say tht it has got defects with its display….bt i’m not sure abt it

5130 is really nice set, i am using this handset since last 6 months, there is no problem with this handset, the only ques which arises is how much extendable we can use in this handset, and if you use some good ear phone like philips and panasonic, you will find the music quality is awesome,,, awesome means pure awesome with superb bass quality, i am little bit disappointed with loudspeaker, while talking with someone loudspeaker is low a bit, not an issue…

this phone is cool.. but its expandeble up to 2gb only. in our country in philippines you can buy it in graphics at 5200PHP. until now this is my phone. this is my best phone i like it.

n5130 is cool in terms of music lovers like me… but i have something i want with this phone like having an internet connection via GPRS.. some phones has a free web browsing so i thought if possible n5130 has it too. so i want an expert to help me to open my web brower to te internet at no cost via GPRS.. is there anybody can configure it!?

I use it 4month.i don’t like it bcoz software problam.tell me about software update.now my phon memory total size i 700kb only!.this phon never allow to read system file.so u can’t delet virus…..

The video camera quality is very poor, even my old 1680c (0.3 mp) gives more clear videos. Photos are good but not better than nokia 7210.

Heyy frenz. I’m writing this comment from my nokia 5130. It iz really good mobile. I’m using it from 2 years. And it can support 8gb m.card.[expandable memory upto 8GB]. I always use 8GB sandisk memory card and it still runs in good speed.

I buy5130 phone last ,many problems are occur in there phone.if i am downloding any application from ovi stor it say’certificate note in phone or sim.so i am not able to download any application from ovi stor.you tube videos is also not playing.plearse help me.=
