Cheap cell phones competion

Today you don’t have to be confuse if you just have low budget, because it’ s not a secret anymore if cell phone with low price dominate domestic market now. There are so many choices for the customers, from local brands to wellknown brands. Today, the local brands offering cheap cell phone with complete features. Next, we will compare five cheap cell phones from different vendors, each price is not more than 500 thousands rupiah. They are IMOi 100, Motorola W181, Sony Ericsson J120i, Samsung B200, and LG KP105.

Desaign Comparation
Lower price that is offered by those fifth cellphones are equal with their simple features and desaign. IMOi 100 has a glossy and pretty candybar model. The cover colour is dominated with white and orange, the layer surface is from glass so it give mirror effect. But the minus, it looks so “plastic” than the others. Motorola W181 looks so “sticky” with long shape, but the unique part is showed by colour gradation from black to grey in the top side. Different with black Sony Ericsson J 120i that looks conventional and Samsung B200 that seems a little fat, LG KP105 looks attractive with cute and slim body. Over all, each cell phone has different character but they still look friendly because of the conventional model.

About the keypad, B200 has softer button because the material is made from plastic, different with the others which are made from rubber.

User Interface And Desktop
As low end cell phone, fifth phones present standart interface. W181, i100,B200 and KP105 show grid format for menu structure. And J120i show list model with big icon. The phones are also have shortcut menu which could be accesed by D-pad, but only KP 105 and W181 could show this in desktop wellknown as screen shortcut. About the LCD, they have same colour intensity CSTN 65536 colours, but the desktop resolution of J120i is smaller than others. It is only 96 x 64 pixel. From display quality, IMO 1201 is the most bright and clear.

Messaging
Samsung B200 has complete services in this sector. It has SMS, EMS, MMS, Push message, and SOS message. Cool isn’t it ? Whereas the other fourth only have short message service.
If you like to write in text format, you’ll helped with long message service in these phones. For the text capacity, B200 has 918 characters, KP105 and i100 have 483 and 459 characters. J120i and W181 didn’t show how many character could be written.

Entertaintment
Customers wish, with low budget they’ll get any entertaint features from their phones. In the price average of 300 thousands rupiah, IMO i100 could satisfy you with FM radio, music player and video. IMO i100 could play MP3 format and could use it as ringtone for your phone. Just remaind you, it only have not more than 2 MB memory capacity, so these music files have to be compressed before they’re played. So do with the video.

To use the radio, you must connect the handsfree to your phone. The handsfree work as an antenna and makes the reception better. Generally the radio perform are not bad, but Sonny Ericsson J120i has better quality to catch frequency signal and audio output. J120i is also has RDS functionality (Radio Data System) that help you to get many informations directly about the radio programme you are listening. But unfortunately, this service doesn’t supported by the condition in some country, for example in Indonesia that only could show limited information about the radio station name.

Connectivity and Internet
Talking about connectivity, these cell phones have poor features. There is no infrared or Bluetooth. The port in the bottom side is only used to charge the battery and handsfree. For internet connection, Samsung B200 could perform better than others. The situs display just so simple, because it’s only has browser that use version 1.2.1 with GPRS data canal to access the internet.

Other Features
Samsung and LG have unique facilities that very usefull if you lose your phone. This is work by sending a short message to your phone, of course you have to setting it before. B200 called it with “mobile tracker” and KP105 called it as “Lost mobile track”.

Battery
Usually, phones with minimal features have longer battery power. This is suitable with the function as standart communication cell phone. For the capacity, Samsung has 1000 mAh, J120 and KP105 have same capacity, 900 mAh but with different battery types. Then, IMO i100 only has 650 mAh. Talk and standby times depend on the actual transmission conditions when we using the mobile phone. For average, the battery could stand until 2 days. But, the polimer lithium that is owned by J120i has longer time than ion lithium that is used by the fourth phones.

The conclusion
In this time comparation, Samsung B200 show better perform than the others. Okay, maybe the price is little bit higher, but it is suitable with the features. There are FM radio and internet browser. Motorola, Sonny and LG offering the same facilities, but they’re just standart features for communication. From the fifth, IMO i100 couldn’t show better perform, the music player and video are just for completing the entertaintment side, no more.
